So, I guess I should try not to blog after having a few drinks;) At least proof read the blog!!! Anyway, thank all of you who have inquired about my Father and shared your sympathy. I'm cool with my Dad's descision to stay medicated and spend the remaining days with family & friends rather than suffer in a hospital. I'm pretty sure if it were me, I'd fight a lot harder. I guess that's why he's Sr. & I'm Jr.
As far as music goes, I've resumed my gigging schedule which averages about 4 a week. If you're curious, check http://www.myspace.com/mitchbudd for upcoming shows near you. I've stared recording my originals again. This time, it's gonna have a more organic acoustic sound witha alot of percussion and other colorful instruments. It's a process and I happen to be a perfectionist;) Otherwords, thanks for being so patient!!!
In love, let's just say I'm feeling hopeless as ever and happy to be able to share it with someone who understands me or at least doen't mind my romanticism. No names yet. But she's usually at my Monday show and likes to come up and sing later in the evening. Lucky for me, she has a beautiful voice and soul.
Thanks again for everything. Life is truley a beautiful experience that keeps getting better. Be good!!!
Much Love,
~M

Sometimes it's hard to blog. There's so much stuff going on, It's hard to cypher what is appropriate and what's not.....and what you really want to share.
I'm going home tomorrow to say what I'm being told is my final farewell to my Dad. It's all of the sudden. I'm naturally bright with hope and optimism and so is my Dad. Yet there is energy around him that lacks what makes Sr. me. I am my fathers child and even though we havev't lived together since my parents divorced when I was three, it has never been more apparent, never more real, or simply realized how much I have in common with him or how much I love him.
This is my out. I will report throughout this week. I can't really get into it right now. My friends or over and at times like these, theay are more important to me than family could ever be. Thanks, Love you,
~M

So my laptop crashed earlier this week. I tried everything but the only solution was to rebot the hard drive and wipe it clean!!! I lost some pics, "The Secret", and a bunch of music and live recordings:( Live and learn. I need to back all my stuff up on an external hard drive. You should too:)
This week in music is proving to be quite demanding. Between recording and six shows, my head is spinning!!! My friend Allegra is coming over on Saturday to lay down female vocal tracks for the LA project. She plays after me at 10 every Monday night at the 710 Beach Club. I think she has the best voice in SD!!!! Check her out sometime.
Looks like I might put a full time band together. I'm auditioning a really cool drummer tonight. He talks a mean game and is a really nice guy. It's all about vibe and chops (talent). And it all starts with the back beat aka drummer. But I've never heard him play ;-p I'll let you know how it goes next week. Gotta go! Have a safe weekend and Happy Cinco De Mayo!!!
Much Love,
~M

Hey there,
So, it's been almost a year since my last blog;-) It doesn't seem that long. Time flies when you're having fun I guess!!! I've decided to commit to weekly blogs. So check back once a week for updates on my music (my life)!!!
Let me bring you up to speed:
I moved back to SD to play music full time. The point of moving to LA was to get some bigger projects started around my music. The mission was accomplished:) (I'll explain in a second). The only problem I faced in LA was work. The 1st year in LA, I spent most of my time playing in SD to pay the bills. I decided to stop gigging in SD to get the full LA experience and grow some roots here (I'm at Buzz Cafe right now). Anyway, another year passed and four random jobs later I realized that I'm happiest when I'm playing music full time. So, the power of intention helped me re-establish my gigging cuircit in SD. After 4 months of commuting between SD & LA, I realized once again, the majority of my time was spent in SD.
So the logical thing for me to do was move back to SD.
Currently, I'm playing 3 weekly shows in SD and 1 in LA (check my www.myspace.com/mitchbudd page). You can usually catch me in LA on Wednesday & Thursday. I have a gig every Wednesday night and record every Thursday. I'm currently recording and writting songs for up and comming major artist in LA. Tonight, we're gonna finish a song for an all girl band call Clique. They're 12yrs old! I re-wrote "Pinky Swear" for them:-D Can you see it? Well, I'll let you know how it goes next week.
I'm planning on revamping my myspace page with new pics and songs. Check it out in the next week or two. That's it for now. Thanks for reading me and staying in touch.
Much Love,
~M

Ok, no excuses for not blogging sooner. I'm a busy guy. You'll be happy to know that I've been busy recording and performing music.
I hooked up with an bad ass LA cat named Lani Akea. He plays percussion and is also a sound engineer instructor at one of the top recording schools in LA. We've been busy recording and having "too much fun" on our weekend shows!
Joining us this weekend is one of my oldest and best friends in the world, Henry Fields. Henry actually put the guitar in my hands for the first time 16 years ago! It's a special thing when you do what you love with people you love who love to do what you love to do:)
That's a tongue twister for you. Of course I'm talking about music, not sex;) Although our jams have been quite endorphic. Anyway, I highly recommend you come check it out before we go to Hawaii. What, You say? Hawaii? Lani has a spot and the whether is hot in the winter time! Full studio and tropical whether is the forcast this October. We're shooting for serious representation by September and then record like crazy for six months in paradise! I'll keep you posted:)
I've been writting a lot lately. I fell into a writers block when I got to LA. Let me clarify. I havn't been writting full songs (music & lyrics) but the poetry is always flowing. Anyway, I recently wrote
a song about my best friend Stephanie. I came up with a groove that had love song written all over it. But it's hard to write a love song if you're not really in love. So I decided to conjure some love for my girl Steph. The song talks about not screwing up a great friendship and lop sided love, bad timing or what ever you want to call it. We're gonna record it for the next CD. It's a beautiful song.
Hopefully I'll see you around at one of my shows and I'll try to stay up on these blogs better:) Please correspond if you like or don't like:/
LY,
Mitch
